Shopping with Daddy

We received word last night that a friend I've met through MOPS, who had been placed with a baby in early January, was going to have to give the baby back to his firstmom today. The firstmom had a change of mind and has decided to parent. I fully believe that those who give birth have the right to parent, but I also know what a great mom my friend is and the loving, Christian home this little boy would have grown up in. My heart is just breaking for this family. I am keeping this family in my thoughts and prayers and asking God to give them guidance and comfort as they go through this tough time.

Last night I hugged Minnow just a little tighter and held onto her just a little longer as I put her to bed. I spent the hour before bedtime watching her hang out with Muskie Man, studying the new Bass Pro Shops catalog. I think they picked out a few new fishing lures together.

"This one, Daddy, it will catch you the big one!"

A Pat on the Back

Minnow gives great hugs. She leans into me, puts her head on my shoulder and pats me on the back. She even says, "Aww." I love it! How many people can get a pat on the back numerous times a day? Thanks Minnow!

Lots O' Snow

We got 11 inches of snow yesterday. The weather people were forecasting 2-4 inches--WRONG! As the day went on weather dot com kept changing the forecast until we had a Heavy Snow Warning which was posted while we were having the heavy snow. Thanks for the warning.

Luckily, a friendly neighbor came with his snowblower and cleared our driveway. Muskie Man would've been our there for hours shoveling and missed the nice Valentine's Day dinner I had prepared. Thanks neighbor--we owe you a couple beers!

Here are a few pictures of our sad little mailbox which has been all but buried in the mounds of snow we now have. I figure that all this snow will be melted by the Fourth of July.

This picture is from last night before another nice neighbor cleared some of the snow so the mail carrier can at least get to the mailbox:

Crabby Girl!

Minnow has been quite crabby the past 2 days. It may have something to do with the fact that she is ready to cut at least 4 teeth. Her gums are swollen and we can see where the teeth are about to come through. Thank goodness for ibupro*fen and ty*lenol.

Hopefully she'll be back to her old self soon, with a mouthful of new teeth.

Gettin' Through the Winter

We are trying to get through the winter. I joined the Y so we have something to do every day. I get Minnow ready--which is sometimes a task with that hair--and we go to the Y. I drop her off at the drop-in childcare and go work out with some other mommy friends. Minnow has adjusted to being abandoned, I mean, left by me to play in a fun room with cool books and toys with other kids and nice supervisors.

After working out, there are other activities. Three days a week the Y has "Wiggles and Giggles," which is play time for toddlers and moms. The indoor soccer field is open and there are balls and toys so the kids have room to run and play. Minnow is kind of being stalked by a little boy who seems to be fascinated with her hair. We also try to go swimming once a week. Last time we went swimming, Minnow took a 3+ hour nap when we got home. (note to self: go swimming, OFTEN)

Minnow is bummed that football season is over and that her Packers lost and didn't make it to the Super Bowl.

We are just waiting out February so we can get geared up for March Madness!
